ARTIST PROFILE

Roseleen Park
Roseleen was born in Derby in 1970. She resides at Warmun Community (Turkey Creek) in the East Kimberley. She is married with one child (Wayne) and is “growing up” her cousin June Peters’ youngest daughter, Shanchia who attends the Warmun school whilst June is residing and painting in Kununurra.
Roseleen is part of a very famous family in the Kimberley. Her mother Rosie is the only surviving sister of Rita, who was married to the legendary Rover Thomas. The maternal family was from Texas Downs Station, Rosie being the eldest of five sisters, Ruby, Phyllis, Rita and Connie. The descendents of these ladies include some of the best known Australian ochre artists – Churchill Cann and his sister Nancy Nodea, Mark Nodea and Charlene Carrington, Katie Cox, June Peters, Roseleen, and Rover’s daughter Jane Yalunga. The “family tree” is fascinating.
Roseleen paints for the Art Centre at Warmun and as an independent artist. Like her family members, she is well educated with natural artistic talent, and now that she is participating in Group Exhibitions, she is sure to be noticed by collectors and has a wonderful future ahead.
