Ted Egan Jangala
Ted Egan Jangala could be called “a man for all seasons”. A respected and very Traditional Senior Walpiri Lawman, Ted is legendary for his ability as a dancer, singer, actor and importantly, a reliable and renowned Tracker. He has on many occasions worked successfully with the Northern Territory Police Force in this capacity.
Ted appeared in an acting role in the “Green Bush” by Aboriginal film-maker Warwick Thornton and was a leading dancer with the Aboriginal dance troupe, Janganpa Dancers, participating in many important Cultural visual art productions.
Ted is one of the grass roots Elder Walpiri male artists, still carefully painting his Traditional Dreaming Stories and as ever, teaching the young men of his skin group. He paints with such luminaries as Dinny Nolan Tjapitjinpa, one of his very best friends. Born c. 1938, Ted is the “young man” of the duo, with Dinny putting his birth date as c. 1922.
Ted Egan’s traditional and very important artworks will live on forever, telling the stories of his Culture and the Dreamtime which is 40,000 years old.
