About the Artist
Provenance: Purchased by Narrangunny Arts from Waringarri Arts, 1999 c. 1932 - 2010 Mignonette Jamin was born at Muthanoongamaya - Majalindy Valley near Palumpa in the N.T. She was a respected law woman and as a child and young woman walked all over the country from Bullo River to Kununurra, when she lived at Legune Station and schooled at Port Keats. Although Mignonette only began painting seriously in the late 1990's, working strictly with ochre earth pigments, her paintings have attracted much attention with their powerfully balanced compositions. Intimate stories and memories of country link these images to her extensive knowledge. Collections • Art Gallery Of Western Australia • Edith Cowan University • Kluge Ruhe Aboriginal Art Collection Virginia USA • Sir Charles Gardiner Hospital Collection • University Of Wollongong NSW • Wesfarmers Collection • Zhongfu Corporation Collection
