Belinda Golder Kngwarreye / Bush Plum Dreaming

Raised at Boundary Bore on the Utopia homelands, Belinda belongs to a family where painting and cultural knowledge sit side by side. She took up the brush in her twenties, guided by her grandmother Polly Ngale, and picked up further techniques from her sister Janet Golder Kngwarreye.

Her canvases centre on two inherited stories. Anwekety, the Bush Plum, is shown through thick build-ups of colour that capture the plant from flower to ripe fruit, while her Awelye works draw on the song, dance and body designs of women's ceremony on Alhalkere Country. In 2024 her paintings travelled to Tokyo for Desert Gestures at The Anzai Gallery, and she now divides her time between Boundary Bore, Gillen Bore and Alice Springs.
