Bullocks Hoof Hill is on Texas Downs Station, north west of Wagon Creek. The Ord River flows right through here. Dad (the late Senior Artist and Tribal Elder Churchill Cann) said this was the busy place for everything. For bringing in supplies for the stockman mustering this part, for the trucks to stop and fuel – always people running around everywhere. No buildings – not ones that would stay a long time anyway – some tin sheds and tent camps. This hill was their landmark. Dad said that with all those people walking all over it the ground was always dusty – like a country town so that’s the way I’ve painted it.
