Mirrilinke is the Kitja spiritual healing centre at Warmun Community in the East Kimberley. The name is actually derived from a couple that lived at Warmun (Turkey Creek) a long long time ago – the woman Mary was Indigenous and the man – Lincoln was a white fella (over time as the stories were told, their names were put together and became ‘Mirrilinke’). Back then they weren’t supposed to be together so they were secret lovers – Charlene has painted the area of Turkey Creek where they would go to secretly meet to be together – this is where the healing centre is now situated right next to the roadhouse at Turkey Creek. Mary and Lincoln stayed together until his passing.
