Acrylic artworks are shipped on canvas or linen un-stretched, rolled up in a cardboard tube unless stated otherwise.
These artworks will need to be stretched around a wooden frame before hanging
This can be done by nearly any picture framer (highly recommended) or you can DIY if you’re confident in your handiwork.
There are numerous "how to" videos on YouTube showing you how to achieve this.
Artist Profile
Artwork is accompanied by Warlukurlangu Artists (Yuendumu) Art Centre Certificate of Authenticity/Provenance
Delvene Napangardi Langdon was born in 1988 in Alice Spring, the closest hospital to Yuendumu, a remote Aboriginal community 290 km north-west of Alice Springs. She grew up with her family in Yuendumu. Her family belong to the Baptist church and they are all keen gospel singers. This is Delvene’s favourite pass-time when she is not looking after her young daughter.
Delvene has been painting for Warlukurlangu Artists Aboriginal Corporation, an Aboriginal owned and governed art centre in Yuendumu, since she was thirteen years old. She paints her Jukurrpa stories, Dreamings from Mt. Theo, a sacred mountain of which her family are traditional owners. For thousands of years this dreaming story has been handed down through the generations, and relates to the creation of this land, the mountain, the surrounding trees and animals and fresh water sources.
When it rains in Yuendumu, Delvene takes her daughter, Nangali, out hunting for Yurrumbi (Honey Ants).
Artwork Description
This dreaming comes from an area to the east of Yuendumu called Cockatoo Creek. ‘Yarla’ (bush potato) are fibrous tubers that grow beneath a low spreading plant, found by looking for cracks in the ground. This edible tuber grows from roots which seek out moisture to sprout new plants. Yarla are good to eat, when cooked they are really soft and tasty. This dreaming tells of ‘yarla’ and ‘wapirti’ (bush carrot) ancestors fighting a big battle in this area. The specific site associated with this painting is a ‘mulju’ (water soakage) called Ngarparapunyu.
