How Artworks Are Sent

Ochre / Kimberley artworks are shipped on canvas or linen, already stretched, ready to hang unless stated otherwise.

Acrylic artworks are shipped on canvas or linen un-stretched, rolled up in a cardboard tube unless stated otherwise.

These artworks will need to be stretched around a wooden frame before hanging

This can be done by nearly any picture framer (highly recommended) or you can DIY if you’re confident in your handiwork.

There are numerous "how to" videos on YouTube showing you how to achieve this.

Artist Profile

Fiona Young Napanangka was born near Pungkupirri waterhole at Tjukurla in Western Australia. She lived in Docker River and at Warakurna before moving back to Tjukurla with her late husband Adrian Young, their children and extended family.

Fiona grew up on this country and feels a deep connection to the land and the traditional way of life in this harsh region. She is the daughter of senior artist Tjawina Porter Nampitjinpa and niece of renowned artist Nyurapaiya Nampitjinpa (Mrs Bennett) and Esther Giles Nampitjinpa. Spending many years painting alongside her famous relatives, these older ladies guided Fiona and she continues to tell the stories passed down to her by them.

Artwork Description

Fiona’s artwork depicts the main waterhole country associated with the Dreamings passed down to her by her Mother. The first is Tjukurrla situated near the Northern Territory / Western Australian borders. The remaining waterholes are at Tjalili and Punkilpirri. The lines that connect these sites are ancestral pathways or song lines. These were established as an indicator for the passage from one site to the next during ceremony. The patterns within the artwork depict the surrounding topography consisting of sand dunes (tali) and rock escarpments (puli).
