How Artworks Are Sent

Ochre / Kimberley artworks are shipped on canvas or linen, already stretched, ready to hang unless stated otherwise.

Acrylic artworks are shipped on canvas or linen un-stretched, rolled up in a cardboard tube unless stated otherwise.

These artworks will need to be stretched around a wooden frame before hanging

This can be done by nearly any picture framer (highly recommended) or you can DIY if you’re confident in your handiwork.

There are numerous "how to" videos on YouTube showing you how to achieve this.

Artist Profile

Grace Brown was born in Victoria and is a very proud Wurundjeri woman. Woiwurrung is her language group and is shared by the other tribal territory groups and clans within the Woiwurrung territory.

Grace has been on a journey to find her heritage on her grandmother’s side and with many years and much research, she now knows where on country she belongs.

She lived in North East Victoria near Healesville for most of her life but now resides on the Gold Coast in Queensland.

With many years of experience with different mediums and subjects, she now has dedicated her life to aboriginal art and her culture to find herself and learn everything about her culture and dreamtime stories from her community and her Elders.

Grace studied an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Cultural Arts Course in 2020 – 2021 and hopes to teach her craft, culture and indigenous dreamtime stories to the next generation.

In 2021 The Gold Coast University Hospital commissioned a large painting by Grace for the boardroom at the hospital. (Permission given by  Yugambeh Elders)

Many collectors around the world now hold Grace Brown paintings in their collections. Her latest painting sold to a private collector in New York USA titled “The Heart of Australia’.

Artwork Description

Aboriginal law and spirituality are intertwined with the land, our people and creation, and this forms our culture and sovereignty. The health of land and water is central to our culture. Land is our mother, it is steeped in our culture, but also gives our people the responsibility to care for it.

The deep cultural connection we have to the sea and water is taught to each new generation. Hunting, fishing, collecting, and looking after culturally significant sites have always been an important part of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures. These activities are deeply rooted in our traditions and customs.

The relationship between many Indigenous people and the land is one of reciprocity and respect. The land sustains and provides for our people, and the people sustain and manage the land through culture and ceremony.

Land is very important to Aboriginal people with the common belief of ‘we don’t own the land, the land owns us’.
