Acrylic artworks are shipped on canvas or linen un-stretched, rolled up in a cardboard tube unless stated otherwise.
These artworks will need to be stretched on a stretcher board before hanging.
This can be done by nearly any picture framer (highly recommended) or you can DIY if you’re confident in your handiwork.
There are numerous "how to" videos on YouTube showing you how to achieve this.
Artist Profile
Jill Kelly Kemarre was born in 1959. Her father’s country is Irrwelty located on Alyawarre lands, north of the Utopia region in Central Australia. Jill is an Alyawarre women, she also speaks Eastern Arrente and English as a second language. Jill comes from a family of famous Utopian artists including Abie Loy, Kathleen Petyarre, Bernadine Johnson and Josie Petrick Kemarre.
Jill has been painting since the late 1990’s. During this time she has worked for Delmore Downs Station and the art centre in Amperlatwaty (north of the Utopia region) as well as established galleries. Her artworks have been included in multiple exhibitions around Australia.
Jill currently lives with her husband and family at Irrerlirri Outstation in Atitjere country, near Harts Range, 190kms north-east of Alice Springs.
Artwork Description
Jill depicts several Dreamings throughout her artwork including the Bush Yam, Bush Potato, Arnwekety (Conkerberry), Ntange (Seeds) and Awelye (Women’s ceremony and business). Jill also depicts her country through an intricate pattern of dots. The Bush Potato Dreaming was passed down to her by her father. The potatoes grow as roots in the soil and as they grow the women will use digging sticks to locate them. The potatoes are often collected in coolamons (wooden dishes) and then cooked in hot coals under the ground.
