Kathleen Buzzacott / Zebra Finches

Kathleen moved to Queensland as a young child and returned at ten to live with her mother at Hermannsburg, and memories of that Central Australian childhood fill many of her paintings: bush trips, swimming holes, hunting and children at play. Her sister, designer Julie-Anne Paige, has long painted by her side.

She is also known for delicate studies of galahs, owls, budgerigars and fairy-wrens, and more recently for the West MacDonnell Ranges and a series on desert wildflowers such as Sturt's Desert Pea and Billy Buttons. Her designs have appeared with Koh Living, Bulurru and Better World Arts, and she was a finalist in the 2024 National Contemporary Art Prize. She lives at Iwupataka, west of Alice Springs, with her husband and sons.
