Leonie (Lee) Rehardt / Dulili (LR01)

Leonie (Lee) Rehardt is a Gold Coast-based Aboriginal artist with 25 years of experience in her cultural art style, combining extensive knowledge and a broad skill-set of contemporary non-indigenous art.

Leonie’s ancestral tracks originate from the Boonwurrung mob of Port Phillip Bay in Victoria. She has spent much of her life piecing together her family and ancestry from Tasmania and Victoria.

Leonie has blossomed throughout her life, raising three children of her own and being married for 50 years.

Within Leonie’s beautiful Aboriginal artworks, you will find stories of dreaming and rich Indigenous culture cultivated from many years of meeting and absorbing her kin and traditions. Leonie’s true life calling has been her art; she remains grateful and blessed to share it with the world.

Our learning was community based. We are a collective culture that taught our children from birth to death connection to the land and spirits. This piece depicts learning taught by groups of women passing their stories and skills to the children that surround them.

Everything that turned the wheel of our culture was done “Dulili”. Meaning together Dulili.
