Art Gallery of South Australia

Lynette was chosen for the 20th Telstra National Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Art Award Survey Exhibition. The painting, Women’s Law and Culture Meeting at Mt Liebig, is now in the collection of the Art Gallery of South Australia

The painting depicts the leaves of the watiya tjuta (desert oak) tree which is found in Lynette’s homeland around Ikuntji (Haasts Bluff) west of Alice Springs in Central Australia. The wood from the watiya tjuta is used to hand carve spears, artefacts, coolamons and ceremonial objects associated with both men’s and women’s business.
