Maisie belongs to the Pintubi Language Group and was born in May 1958 in the Mt. Liebig area and later moved to Kintore.
She was married to international artist, Barney Campbell Tjakamarra, who passed away in early 2007. Maisie currently lives with their two children and grandchildren in Alice Springs.
Maisie began painting in the early 90’s and her themes symbolize the huge women’s ceremonies that take place in the area between Kintore and Kiwirrkurra in Western Australia.
Her art became popular recently with a number of galleries exhibiting her vibrant works which are rich in colour and tell the numerous women’s stories that circulate in her community.
