Michael Rehardt / Kaartdijin

A Palawa and Boonwurrung artist based on the Gold Coast, taught dot painting by his mother Leonie Rehardt. His colourful acrylic works draw on Dreamtime narratives, personal experience and family history. He likes to practice with acrylic on canvas to create large dotted aboriginal artworks that captivate you with colour, imagination and beauty. Michael was born off country in Launceston, Tasmania and has strong ties to the Palawa people.

Michael resigned from his corporate career in early 2021 to pursue his passion and love of the arts. He now spends his days painting Indigenous narratives or recording music as a solo acoustic singer-songwriter. This may seem an unlikely combination, but Michael’s acute eye for detail does both so well.
