How Artworks Are Sent
Ochre / Kimberley artworks are shipped on canvas or linen, already stretched, ready to hang unless stated otherwise.
Acrylic artworks are shipped on canvas or linen un-stretched, rolled up in a cardboard tube unless stated otherwise.
These artworks will need to be stretched around a wooden frame before hanging
This can be done by nearly any picture framer (highly recommended) or you can DIY if you’re confident in your handiwork.
There are numerous "how to" videos on YouTube showing you how to achieve this.
Artist Profile
Susan Gibson Napaltjarri was born in 1968 in Kintore. She was taught to paint by her parents, both successful, international indigenous artists. Her father is Yala Yala Gibbs and mother is Ningura Napurula.
Susan depicts sacred stories from the Tingari Dreamtime which tell of women as healers and providers within the community. Her paintings represent her birth country; the region of Tjukurla in the Gibson Desert. Susan’s style and subject matter reflect a strong influence from her parents; however she has developed an individual approach which is apparent in much of her recent work.
Story of the Artwork
Kungka Kutjarra (the two women ancestors) wandered through the country around Warlungurru (Kintore). They tracked a perentie lizard, creating a soakage at Lampintjanya near the Kintore Range as they speared the giant lizard with a digging stick. The women then travelled through Kultukatjarra (Docker River) to Illiningarrara and eventually, Tjukurla.
