Tommy Crow / Sunset Dreaming

Tommy, whose traditional name Gural Warkarn means Black Crow, grew up on the edge of Cunnamulla, learning bush skills and cultural knowledge from his elders. After losing both parents young he moved to Toowoomba, trained as a spray painter and later settled in Alice Springs, where he started Crow Creations making and painting didgeridoos.

His Uncle Lenny taught him to paint, but the Sunset Dreaming style arrived through a dream or vision. Each scene shows men dancing around a fire with spears and boomerangs as kangaroos, emus and brolgas move through the landscape under a rising or setting sun. A performer as well as a painter, he has played the didgeridoo at the Sydney Opera House, Disney World in Florida and events in Germany and South Korea.
