Belinda Golder Kngwarreye was born at Mulga Bore, Utopia, Central Australia in 1986. Belinda comes from a family of talented female artists – her grandmother is senior Utopia artist Polly Ngale, and her mother Bessie Purvis Petyarre and sister Janet Golder are also accomplished artists. Artists Kathleen Ngale and Angelina Ngale are her great aunts.

Belinda paints the Bush Plum Dreaming story that she inherits from her grandmother Polly Ngale. Her technique is to render the many colours of the bush plum plant as the fruits ripen. The bush plum is known as anwekety and only fruits for a few weeks of the year.

Belinda continues to live in Utopia with her husband and 2 children.

This artwork depicts the Bush Plum (or Conkerberry). Belinda’s grandmother, Polly Ngale, is the senior custodian of the Bush Plum Dreaming. The varying composition in colour and pattern reveals the geography of the Bush plum, as well as the artist’s knowledge of significant places, such as clay-pans, soakages and spinifex mounds. Bush Plum is a food source for the Aboriginal people from Utopia in the Eastern desert of Central Australia. The women pay homage through body paint, songlines and dance cycles in their ceremonies.
