Story of the Artwork
In this gorgeous painting Dulcie depicts the leaves of the Desert Yam or Bush Plum paying homage to the spirit of this special plant in the hope that it will regenerate.
The fruit of the plant tastes like sweet potato which is a staple part of the Aboriginal’s diet and is also renowned for its medicinal properties. This medicine is used to heal cuts, wounds, bites, rashes and as an insect repellent.
