How Artworks Are Sent

Ochre / Kimberley artworks are shipped on canvas or linen, already stretched, ready to hang unless stated otherwise.

Acrylic artworks are shipped on canvas or linen un-stretched, rolled up in a cardboard tube unless stated otherwise.

These artworks will need to be stretched on a stretcher board before hanging.

This can be done by nearly any picture framer (highly recommended) or you can DIY if you’re confident in your handiwork.

There are numerous "how to" videos on YouTube showing you how to achieve this.

Artist Profile

Minnie Nelson Nakamarra was born in Alice Springs, NT in 1966. She is the daughter of renowned Papunya Tula artist Johnny Warangkula Tjupurrula and Gladys Napanangka. She has 6 brothers and sisters including senior artist Candy Nelson Nakamarra. Minnie and her siblings all grew up together in Papunya, watching their talented parents – her father was one of the founders of the desert art movement and her mother was one of the first women to paint for Papunya Tula in the early 1980s. Both her parents encouraged their children to paint and passed down important Dreaming stories to them. Like her father before her, Minnie paints ‘Kapi Tjukurrpa’ (Water Dreaming).

Minnie began her schooling in Papunya and later attended Yirara College in Alice Springs. She returned to Papunya and worked in child and aged care before having her 4 children.

Along with her brothers and sisters, Minnie is now successfully following in the footsteps of her famous parents.

Artwork Description

This painting depicts the Kapi Tjukurrpa (Water Dreaming) at Kalipinypa, north-east of Kintore. The painting tells the story of the rain and hail making ceremony for the site of Kalipinypa. Ancestral forces are invoked to bring on a powerful storm with lightning, thunderclouds and rain sending down a deluge to rejuvenate the earth, filling the rock holes, clay pans and creeks and creating new life and growth upon the land.

Loving how Kirstie finds brilliant artists and shares not only the artwork, but the back story of both the piece AND the artist. You can tell she absolutely loves Aboriginal art, and she has such great rapport with the artists.
