Tarisse King / My Country

Tarisse was largely raised in Darwin and made the long road trip to Adelaide many times, passing salt lakes, rivers and desert that still shape her paintings. At 16 she began working beside her father, who taught her the techniques and stories he had learned from his grandfather.

Earth Images, a design her father passed to her, sits alongside her own series including Pink Salts, Blue Salts and Gurindji Ancestors, where rivers branch into pathways and campsites become circles. She has also moved into sculpture, and her steel and stone Campsites is now on permanent display at Dungog Common in NSW. With her sister Sarrita she co-founded KingKing Creative, which debuted at Australian Fashion Week in 2026. Today she is based in Aotearoa New Zealand, raising five children.
