Tommy Carroll / Paddy’s Country

A Gija artist drawing on a lifetime of travelling and working across East Kimberley Country. His bold natural-ochre artworks use strong contrasts to express Doon Doon landscapes and Ngarrangkarni narratives. Tommy started creating art in 1999 after being encouraged by Katie and quickly developed a highly individual approach that stood apart from other Warmun artists. Tommy was born in May 1956 at Doon Doon Station in the East Kimberley region of Western Australia.

Since commencing his artistic career, Tommy Carroll has exhibited extensively across Australia and internationally. Tommy’s deep knowledge of Country, gained through years spent travelling and working across the Kimberley landscape, forms the foundation of his art practice. His artworks have been acquired by major public and private collections including the National Gallery of Australia, Parliament House Collection and Artbank.
