Scott Linklater

Owner and Founder, Artlandish Aboriginal Art Gallery

Scott Linklater has been involved with Artlandish Aboriginal Art since its founding in 2001, building the gallery from a small Kununurra operation into one of Australia’s best-known and largest online Aboriginal art galleries, with over 20,000 artworks sold to more than 10,000 collectors and art lovers in 38 countries.

Over more than two decades Scott has worked to promote Indigenous art across the world with a special focus on those artists with the least opportunities to build an international reputation due to factors such as living in remote areas and lack of access to technology.

He has conducted exhibitions in Europe and the United States as well as promoted Australian Aboriginal Art at such events as the Australian Festival Down Under in Nashville.

Scott has been interviewed by CNN in a feature that included leading Indigenous Artist Sarrita King as well as local newspapers on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland.

Scott and Artlandish were featured by Google as a small business success story which highlighted both the business and Scott on Google’s main website.

He has spoken about the business and online marketing on numerous different podcasts and digital marketing channels talking about how they built a worldwide business from a remote location in Kununurra, WA.

His writing in the Aboriginal Art Library draws on first-hand experience accumulated across 25 years of working at the intersection of art, culture, and commerce in one of Australia’s most significant cultural industries. He writes about Aboriginal art history, buying guides, regional traditions, and the contemporary Indigenous art market with the perspective of someone who has been inside the industry through its major shifts and transitions.

Scott is based between Kununurra, Adelaide and Melbourne.
